Cabras is a little town of 9000 inhabitans located in the north-west side of the Campidano's plain, very close to Oristano.
In the Cabras country there are many interesting and cultural lagoonal areas
such as: Cabras pond that is about 20 kmq wide (and for this it's one of the biggest pond in Europe); "Mistras" and "Mar'e Pontis" ponds; "Mar'e Pauli" and "Pauli'e Sali" ponds: the last one has been made protected area by WWF for the presence of the "Sultan Chicken", an estingushing bird species.
In this ponds you can also watch the presence of the "Pink Flamingo".
The Peninsula of the Sinis is a country area, mostly used for agriculture, but it has also a naturalistic interest for the presence of "Seu", a protected area of WWF, in which you will be able to watch various faunistic species as wild boars, hares, tortoises, hedgehogs and many others.
Cabras, on the other side, is also a sea area; there are many kilometers of beaches around the town's country, many of them characterized by quartz made sand of white colour and rice shape; in Cabras territory there's also the "Mal di Ventre" Isle and the head of "Capo San Marco".
In the sea area of Cabras, since 1997 has born the "Area Marina Protetta Sinis Maldiventre".
